High degrees of uncertainty mirror in both silicon valley and the entertainment industry. Will my app be downloaded? Will my song reach a high position on iTunes? Interestingly, and surprisingly enough there are lessons in both to be captured. Is the music business and silicon valley “brothers from another mother?” We’ll explore these ideas and more with Music Technologist @professordaddyo, Founder of Stetsasonic and Open Source Recordings.

Speaker Bio:

Hip-Hop historian, music technologist and founder of the original socially conscious band “Stetsasonic;" Daddy-O is a living Hip-Hop legend and one of the most influential voices in trending digital media. Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, Daddy-O has conquered the music industry not only as an artist, but as a mogul that helped launch industry heavyweights Mary J. Blige, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Keith Richards, Sonic Youth and They Might Be Giants. As an executive, Daddy-O’s work began in 1995 with Universal Records where he was responsible for artist discovery and development. While in this capacity, Daddy-O discovered rap artists Master P. and Mystical and provided A&R services for Sony Records and Warner Music Group. Other notable projects include “And 1 Mix Tapes,” “MTV’s Rip the Runway,” and Omar Bin Hassan’s “Playa or Hata.” He has also done A&R and production work on the
movies “Dangerous Minds,” ”CB4,” and “Lean on Me.”

One of the most compelling minds of our generation; Daddy-O brings an energetic discussion to the latest in digital technology in his online syndicated show, “Get Ya Digital On.”
